Aisha McKnight-Baron, M.D.
Having a physician that is approachable, authentic, nurturing and meticulous are ideal goals for most patients. Dr. Aisha McKnight-Baron possesses those attributes and more. Dr. McKnight-Baron is a female plastic surgeon and the newest addition to Crawford Plastic Surgery. Born to Jamaican immigrants, she has established Stone Mountain, Georgia as her home after moving there at the age of 12. She is excited to be back in Georgia after being away for many years while training.
Dr. McKnight-Baron attended Spelman College in Atlanta, GA where she graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Spanish. During her matriculation, she traveled abroad to Costa Rica where she learned about the culture and health care system. She then completed her medical training at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. At Meharry, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society as a junior and served as her senior class president.
After completion of her medical education, Dr. McKnight-Baron moved to Houston to attend residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in the legendary Texas Medical Center. There she experienced unparalleled training in one of the most challenging plastic surgery training programs in the country. She has gained thorough knowledge in cosmetic surgery while becoming highly skilled in microsurgical reconstructive techniques as a result of her time spent rotating at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and the Methodist Institute for Reconstructive Surgery. In addition to general cosmetic and reconstructive techniques, Dr. McKnight-Baron has developed a special interest in microsurgical breast reconstruction.
PERSONAL AND ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Dr. McKnight-Baron's academic achievements include multiple peer reviewed articles and presentations to professional medical organizations. She is also a cancer survivor and can relate personally to the physical and emotional effects that her patients often experience during and after a cancer diagnosis and subsequent therapy. Being a patient herself, has imparted on her compassion and a unique perspective when it comes to caring for her patients and consistently doing what is right for them. Her patients and peers often describe her as very dedicated and fun-loving. Dr. McKnight-Baron's patients have a full understanding of their surgical options and know that she will go the extra mile to ensure that they are comfortable with her and at ease.
